The Park of the Legends was founded by Felipe Benavides Barreda during the government of Fernando Belaúnde Terry in 1964. It is located in the District of San Miguel in the city of Lima. Currently apart from the zoo has a botanical garden, a museum site and also you can visit some of the huacas that are around the park.

The name comes from 10 Inca and Pre-Inca legends that were illustrated by Sabino Springett and placed on walls at the entrance; today the original paintings have been lost and only the texts are preserved. The fate of the original works that were removed from their place around 2008 is unknown.
