Puerto Blest is a small port and town that is located on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi, Puerto Blest is within the Nahuel Huapi National Park.
To get to this port from Bariloche, you have to take a boat, and it is 18 km away. of navigation. To get from Chile, you can do it from Peulla.
The now called Puerto Blest, was baptized by Menéndez "port of Hope". This name was related to the name that the practical José A. Olavarría assigned to the hill that is located on the back of the same port.
The establishment and initial development of Puerto Blest is associated with the transportation of products, merchandise and people between Argentina and Chile through the Paso Pérez Rosales.
The crossing of the mountain range through the Pérez Rosales pass was at the time when the roads to cross the mountain range were mere impassable traces, the only reasonable option for trade between both sides of the mountain range.
