Direccion: Provincia de Aysen

Is located within the Magellan Strait, 35 km from the city of Punta Arenas. This wilderness area is created in August 1966 and reclassified as a National Park as a Natural Monument in 1982.

The aim of this nature reserve is to protect the avifauna such as penguins, cormorants, gulls. On the spot they are one of the largest penguin colonies in southern Chile, whose population is estimated at 60 thousand pairs of Magellanic penguins, which is over 95 of the bird population biomass.

On the island more than 60 thousand pairs of penguins return to nest year after year to the same caves they build. Between October and March, most of them are visible, occupying the entire island, which makes it a unique sight.
