Don Gustavo Adolfo Wulff Mowla, a leading businessman and philanthropist of Valparaiso, decided to build a magnificent residence in one place: the rocky, located between the mouth of Estero Marga Marga-and Caleta Abarca. His dream materialized in 1906 when he completed this work was built to defy the sea. In 1920, Wulff crowned his work with characteristic turret and installed inside a sector with transparent floor, which allowed him to see the rocky.

The owner of the Castle died in 1946 and bequeathed his property to Mrs. Hope Artaza, which enlarged the building and renovation, then sell (1960) to the Municipality of Viña del Mar. This entity ceded the castle to the navy, which until 1985 he settled in the Naval and Maritime Museum. That year the Navy took delivery of the property, which remained vacant until 1989 when the Directorate of Libraries, Archives and Museum took over the property in comodato. Since 1990 works at the site of the Museo Cultural del Mar, which exhibits Salvador Reyes Collection, consisting of furniture, paintings and engravings, nautical objects and documents belonging to this eminent writer and journalist.

El Castillo Wulff recalls that of a middle. It is characterized by a circular turret and crenellated tower topped by a spire, both with lancet windows oriented to the west. The predominant material is stone. These buildings will attach the main units on two floors of a rectangular shape. Breaks with the main facade of the imposing castle, presenting the appearance of a medieval English house.

Wulff Castle stands majestically today on the rocky coast of Viña del Mar; his stamp has become the tourist image par excellence of the garden city.
