Information about Ovalle
Ovalle has approximately 60,000 inhabitants, is capital of the province of limari.
The city of Ovalle was founded by the provincial assembly of La Serena April 22 1831, by reason of sub-dividing the region. The name of the city remembers Jose Tomas Ovalle, who was vice president of the republic at that time.
Today in the interior valley is the greatest prodcción farm, and pisco fruticulosa the country.
In 1821 was founded the city of Ovalle. One of the reasons for the founding of this city was the existence of a core population of over three thousand. He agreed to give the name of Ovalle in honor of late Vice President Jose Tomás Ovalle Bezanilla.
