Information about Cunco
Cunco that in Mapudungun means Clear Water, is a commune and a small town that is to 60 kilometers to the south-east of Temuco.
It has tourist attractions such as the Colico and Caburgua Lakes, the Allipén, Curaco, Trafanpulli, Rio Blanco and Huichahue rivers, which, combined with the majesty of its precordillerano cord and the warmth of its inhabitants, make Cunco a great commune to visit.
Cunco was born as a fort for the defense of the Mapuche people during the colonization of southern Chile.
It was founded by Colonel Gregorio Urrutia in 1883 and legally exists as a commune since August 20, 1918.
