Cunco, Region de la Araucania Lake Colico is located in the commune of Cunco, province of CautÃn, AraucanÃa Region, 20 km south of the city of Cunco.
The main tributary of this beautiful lake is the river Trafampulli that flows into it on the west side. The banks of the lake are irregular with narrow and stony beaches, the most important being Puerto Puma, Bajo Hondo, and El Hogar, the latter being the site of an old childrens shelter. The waters of the lake are transparent and have pleasant temperatures for bathing.
Lake Colico has an area of ??56 square kilometers and a depth of 416 meters.
The local flora is characterized by coigües, quilas, oaks, notros, chilcos, maquis, mountain cypresses and hazel trees. While the fauna includes quiques, pudúes, coipos, vizcachas, foxes chilla and culpeo, in addition to birds such as woodpeckers and cormorants.
