Information about Tulum

Direccion: Tulum SN - See on the Map

Tulum or Tuluum was a walled city of the Mayan culture located in the State of Quintana Roo, in the southeast of Mexico, on the coast of the Caribbean Sea.

It is known for its well-preserved ruins of an ancient Mayan harbor. The main building is a large stone structure called El Castillo, which stands on the top of a rocky cliff, on the white sand beaches and the turquoise sea. Near the ruins, there is the Tulum National Park, a coastal area with mangroves and cenotes.

Under the cliff is the beach of Paradise, considered one of the best beaches of the Riviera Maya, from it are organized excursions to the famous Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. Likewise, the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve measures half a million hectares and covers all possible scenarios: beaches, coral reefs, tropical jungle, dunes and cenotes.

It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, one of the essential sites in Tulum are its Mayan ruins, located on a cliff facing the Caribbean Sea; with warm starry nights and clear turquoise waters you will find the only archaeological zone that sits on the seashore. It is the most photogenic site in the region and, perhaps, of the entire country.
