The hills on the sea are a badge of unique landscape of Rio de Janeiro. Sugarloaf nose, along the charming Corcovado, one of the emblems of the city, and is a must visit for those who wish to view the most beautiful panorama of the capital carioca ride. The nose is located in the neighborhood of Urca, on the beach Vermelha.

Located on the banks of Guanabara Bay on a peninsula extending over the Atlantic Ocean, Sugarloaf is the only one of the several existing monoliths in Rio that is located exactly on the sea. This gives it a unique charm, coupled with enjoyable spectacular view from its 396 meters high. The peak is granite and quartz, and is covered by the lush vegetation of the Atlantic region.

The name serves two theories. For some similarity comes from the nose to the old loaves of sugar, rounded. For others, the name comes from the Tupi-Guarani "Pau-nh-acuqua", which means "high hill". Whatever the root of his appointment, the fact is that the nose has fascinated for centuries to tread Rio de Janeiro, being the center from which the city was built in the sixteenth century. This icon continues to hold today carioca daily attention of thousands of people walking the slopes and enjoy the view from its summit.
