3 Day Tambopata Amazon Jungle Tour at Posada Amazonas

Immerse in the natural wonders of the Peruvian Amazon from the comfort of a unique rainforest lodge, owned by the local indigenous community. Your 3-day eco-tour begins with a 45-minute boat ride from the town of Puerto Maldonado. Enjoy a guide-led rainforest expedition to Tres Chimbadas Lake in the Tambopata National Reserve, watch a riot of colorful birds at Parrot Clay Lick and embark on several easy walks—from the forest floor to the treetops! You’ll see Amazonian wildlife, such as rare river otters, caiman and toucans. Full board and round-trip hotel transfers are included. Numbers are limited to 8 people, ensuring an intimate experience with a small group.

Itinerary

Day 1: DAY 01: PUERTO MALDONADO / LODGE

Stop At: Amazon Rainforest, Peru
Arrival in the city of Puerto Maldonado between 13:00 to 13:30, assistance and transfer to the pier to head to the lodge. On the way, we will see beautiful scenery and our guide will be alert for some animal species when sneaking to show them to you. Enjoy a box lunch on board. Upon arrival, we will receive some recommendations from a lodge’s counselor. We will go on with the visit to the scaffolding tower, located 20 minutes from Posada Amazonas. This tower is 30 meters high. From the top, you will have an excellent position to watch various birds such as parrots, toucans and macaws which live at this height, as well as a spectacular view of the Tambopata River and treetop. At night, attend a presentation on the ecotourism project between Rainforest Expeditions and the Community of Infierno. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: DAY 02: LAKE TRES CHIMBADAS / PARROT CLAY LICK / ETHNOBOTANICAL TOUR

Stop At: Puerto Maldonado, Puerto Maldonado, Madre de Dios Region
We will go to the shores of Lake Tres Chimbadas, where a catamaran will take us to see the local fauna of the lake. We will search for caimans, riverbank birds, and peculiar hoatzins. And, if we are lucky, we will be able to watch the family of river otters known as the world's largest freshwater otters.
We will make a visit to the parrot clay lick, where we will see dozens of parrots and parakeets feeding on the clay. After lunch, we will go to the Nape Center, where we will take an ethnobotanical tour. Recognize different medicinal plants used in the center. At night, we will take a walk in search of mammals and other animals. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
