Itinerary

Day 1: Livingstone Monument, Springs Water Mugara, Rumonge & Kigwena National Park

Stop At: Bujumbura Mairie Province, Bujumbura Mairie Province
Pick-up will commence 30 minutes before departure time. We will collect you and your party after breakfast and We will proceed on the scenic tourist road of Bujumbura - Rumonge for our full-day private guided tour covering, Stanley & Livingstone Monument, Kigwena National Park.

Stop At: Livingstone-Stanley Monument, Mugere, Bujumbura Burundi
Our first exciting stop on our itinerary will be the Livingstone and Stanley historical meeting place monument. We will make a stop to visit the historical Livingstone–Stanley Monument at Mugere which marks a location where explorer and missionary Dr. David Livingstone and journalist and explorer Henry Morton Stanley visited and spent two nights on 25–27 November 1871 in Burundi.

Stop At: Eaux Thermales de Mugara, XG4F+248, Mugara, Burundi
From the historical Monument of Livingstone & Stanley, We will proceed to the fascinating healing Eaux Thermales de Mugara ( Thermales Water of Mugara). Driving time between the two attractions will be approximately 2 hours. Immerse in our healing thermal water at the famous tourist site of Mugara. Burundi is endowed with 2 major hot springs which are believed to have healing power. Hot springs are produced by the emergence of geo-thermally heated groundwater from the earth’s crust. The temperature of rocks within the earth increases with depth. If water percolates deeply enough into the crust, it will be heated as it comes into contact with hot rocks. Hot springs are formed by cracks extending down towards the exceedingly hot temperatures of the mantle, and water seeping downwards is heated and forced back up under pressure to bubble. Remember to bring swimming costumes and sun lotion, fresh towels will be provided by your tour guide.

Stop At: Rumonge, Rumonge, Bururi Province
After the swimming experience at the hot springs of Mugara, we will stop in Rumonge for the lunch break and a city orientation tour and beaches. The driving time is approximately 20 minutes. Lunch is inclusive and local drinks.

Stop At: Kigwena Forest Reserve, R. n. 3, Rumonge Burundi
From Rumonge, We will drive to Kigwena Forest Nature Reserve through scenic National Road Number 3. Kigwena Natural forest is an amazing home to some of rare oldest trees in Africa and has many types of trees and plants growing in it. The forest is located along the magic Lake Tanganyika, with wild animals such as baboons, monkeys and different species of butterflies are some of the species to be found here. The trees are huge and their roots come to the ground creating a dense look in the forest. After the tour, we will return to Rumonge City for a good night rest

Day 2: Source of Nile River, Ijenda, Karera Waterfalls & Gitega City

Stop At: Source Du Nil尼罗河源头, 3RMQ+W4X, Musenyi, Burundi
Soon after breakfast at your hotel resort in Rumonge, We take a beautiful smooth drive to Rutovu in the Bururi Province to discover the Source of the Majesty Nile River, the lungs of so many African countries' economies such as Etiopia, Sudan & Egypt. This is a must-see attraction in Burundi. Here you will discover the real source of the Nile River and its famous Pyramid Monument. A local tour guide will take you through the history of this fascinating tourist attraction.

Stop At: Ijenda, Burundi
Soon after The visit to the Source of the Nile River, We will drive through Ijenda along the National 7, this is compared to a little Switzerland right here in the heart of Africa. Admit the quality of air is generally acceptable for everybody. The sightseeing of endless mountains will blow you away. Discover the country of thousand hills at its best as you ate heading to the most spectacular waterfall in Burundi known Karera Falls.

Upon arrival at majestic Karera Waterfalls, you will be guided by a local tour guide to discover all three Waterfalls that constitute the Chutes de la Karera Falls. This is one amazing top tourist attractions in Burundi not to be missed on your Burundi Trip. Karera Falls is in the Rutana Province.

Soon after the Karera Water Falls experience, We will drive to Gitega, the political Capital City of Burundi, for a well-deserved lunch at a local restaurant specializing in organic local dishes (cuisine). After lunch, You will be dropped off at Helena Hotel and spend the rest of the day at your own leisure. Dinner and local beers and drinks will be served here at the hotel.

Soon after breakfast at Helena Hotel, your tour guide will take you to the local central market of Gitega to see the way the locals trade and also an opportunity to buy a piece of Burundi art and a gift to take home. prices can be bargained and this market offers the lowest prices of gifts among the East Africa Community Countries

Stop At: National Museum of Gitega, Rn2, Gitega Burundi
Afterward, visit the National Museum and the Gitega city tour including the catholic village.

Stop At: Gishora Drum Sanctuary, Rn 15 Gishora, Gitega Burundi
We will drive to Gishora Burundian premier drum sanctuary and the birthplace of this world-class famous experience. Gishora drum sanctuary is famous for drum making. The area has two ritual drums that have never been beaten. See live at a very close range the famous Burundi Ingoma men in action and learn how to beat these giants' drums. This is a breathtaking experience not be missed. Learn the history and the culture from a local tour guide.

Our next attraction will be a guided walk into the Kibira National Park. Visit a tea plantation and have lunch at the Green Park Resort In Kibira's Bugarama. Taste their famous Tangawizi Coffee.

Stop At: Bujumbura Mairie, Burundi
Take a scenic drive back to Bujumbura City. This is one of the most scenic drives in East Africa, with coffee, tea, wheat, and banana plantations scenery along the way, and taste the local fruits, and local barbecue known as brochette. You will be drop off at your accommodation in Bujumbura or any other place you wish to be within the city.
