Information about Olmue
The Commune Olmué, is located in the central area of the Republic of Chile, V Region, Province Quillota. This is a rural municipality with an area of 20,740 hectares and a permanent population of 13,000. It is characterized by having one of the best climates in the world, much like California (USA). His greatest strength is tourism.
Olmué name derives from "Gülmü" which in Aymara language means "Land of Olmos. The community was founded on 14 October 1893. In 1927 it was incorporated into the commune of Limache for later in 1966 to resume its status of autonomous region. Originally, the current commune was Gülmü Finance.
