Payogasta is a city in the department of Cachi, province of Salta, Argentina.
It has around 500 inhabitants.
Payogasta would mean "White Town", "Payo" = White and "Spend" = Town.
In the heart of the Calchaquíes Valleys, surrounded by hills and with the imposing Nevado de Cachi as the dominant landscape, Payogasta offers itself to the traveler as a place that is not just passing through. Its streams of crystalline waters, cross wide sectors where the dryers of pepper and the pre Andean mountain ranges conform a landscape of incomparable beauty dominated by the blue sky of the Puna.
