The building, by itself, is a real wonder of art deco. Indeed, even when its construction took place at the end of the 19th century, European influence was still part of the idiosyncrasy of Bel?m and there was its market, opened in 1901, with all iron architectural engineering as the best buildings of the Belle ?poque .
The Bel?m Market is considered one of the largest outdoors in all of Latin America and to this we must add the facilities that are located safely under the roofs of the building. Fresh fish, vegetables, meats, tropical fruits, handicrafts, fabrics, spices and even sausage mixes. It is worth the walk.
