Lake Ranco has around 13 islands, mostly occupied by summer houses and around 30 aboriginal communities

Lago Ranco, a commune located north of the X region, has rich ecosystems of still virgin forests and native fauna, impressive waterfalls, large lake basins, beautiful beaches, active volcanoes, important tributaries and extensive territories of the Puyehue National Park.

Among its greatest attractions is sport fishing. Some places of tourist interest to mention are The Stone Table, the footstep of the Devil, the Beach of the Arenal and ballast of port lapi and the jump of the Nilahue

To the south of the lake the homonymous commune is located. The lake also gives its name to the city located 47 kilometers northeast of Bueno River and 887 south of Santiago.
