DAY 01: ARICA - PUTRE
Tour departure at 10:30 a.m. We will visit the Agricultural Terminal to know a typical market.
We will enter the Azapa Valley, on the way we will see the La Tropilla Geoglyph. Then we will visit the San Miguel de Azapa Museum.
We will cross towards the Lluta Valley where we will have a view of both valleys.
We will have lunch in an ecological community, Ecotruly. We will appreciate the candlestick cactus and the magnetic zone, we will visit a pre-Inca fortress in Copaquilla and we will know a pre-Andean town Socoroma 3000 masl. We will take a walk to this town of approximately 1 hour, small break (coffee and cookies).
Arrival at Putre 3500 MSN at 6:30 p.m. approximately.

KNOWING THE GREAT NORTHERN EXPRESS
DAY 02: PUTRE - LAUCA NATIONAL PARK - PARINACOTA
Departure from the accommodation in Putre at 08:30 hrs. approx. We will have breakfast in Putre or in Jurasi Hot Springs. To continue later to the Bofedal de las Cuevas where we will hike for 40 min. On the way we will see wild vicuñas, vizcachas and we will meet bofedales, base of the ecosystem in the altiplano (Mirador Bofedal de Parinacota).
We will be able to admire a great variety of birds such as the Northern Pythians, Guallatas, Taguas, among others. We will admire the Chungara Lake, the Cotacotani Lagoons where we will hike for approximately 3 hours (optional). We will have a picnic - lunch in the town of Parinacota, we will tour the town.
Accommodation at Leonel Teran's house (basic). Dinner.
KNOWING THE GREAT NORTHERN EXPRESS
DAY 03: PARINACOTA - SALAR DE SURIRE
Breakfast in Parinacota (4392 masl) Departure from Parinacota at 08:30 hrs. approx., Later visiting Ancuta and Guallatire, two highland towns over 4000 meters above sea level at the foot of the active Guallatire volcano.
Arriving at the Salar de Surire at 12:00 hrs. approx. We will visit Chilcaya taking a walk of about an hour, to photograph the flora and fauna, highlighting the three types of flamingos that exist in this salt flat (Andean, Chilean, James); Then we will go to the Termas de Polloquere (4270 MSN), waters of volcanic origin that emerge at 80º C, with high mineral content that would allow us to rest pleasantly at 4270 masl. Picnic.

KNOWING THE GREAT NORTHERN EXPRESS
DAY 04: SALAR DE SURIRE - ISLUGA VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK - ENQUELGA - CARIQUIMA
Breakfast at CONAF refuge. Departure for Mulluri - Mirador de Arabilla, Enquelga. We will visit the Isluga Volcano National Park, where we will meet the Isluga people with its Church and abundance of bofedales. We will visit the giant cacti of Rio Grande.
Picnic at noon. In addition we will observe geological formations of a moving beauty. Later we will arrive in Cariquima, famous for its skillful artisan weavers for centuries, at approximately 4:00 p.m.

DAY 05: CARIQUIMA - HUMBERSTONE - HUARA - PICA
Breakfast at 08:00 hrs. From Cariquima we will go down to the Happiness gorge and we will stop at the Mirador de Victoria with a beautiful view of canyons and volcanic rocks. We will then visit the Miradors of Chusmiza and Pachica, the latter on the edge of the Atacama Desert.
Then we continue in Cerro Unitas to observe the largest geoglyph in the area "El Gigante de Atacama". We will have lunch in Huara and then we will visit the saltpeter works of Humberstone and Santa Laura, arriving at the town of Pica at 17:00 hrs. approx.

KNOWING THE GREAT NORTHERN EXPRESS
DAY 06: PICA - GEOGLIFOS DE PINTADOS - QUILLAGUA - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA O CALAMA
From Pica (1325 MSN), after our breakfast, we will walk to the Cocha de Resbaladero, one of the many tunnels used to extract water in the Atacama Desert.
These waters are semi-thermal and the local people say that it has medicinal properties.
After this relaxing bath we will leave Pica to visit the Painted Geoglyphs that contain approximately 400 figures on 66 panels representing men, animals, birds and abstract drawings. We will leave from this place crossing the Pampa del Tamarugal National Reserve to arrive later at the small town Quillagua, an oasis next to the Loa river with crops and a town, where a church and the railway station stake. Quillagua Customs. Lunch at the Panamericana.
To then cross the desert until you reach Calama or continue to San Pedro.
