Itinerary

Day 1: Athens the cradle of the Olympic Games

Stop At: Corinth, Corinth, Corinthia Region, Peloponnese
Today we will depart in the direction of the Corinth Canal, where we will stop to photograph and get to know the famous canal that connects the Aegean Sea with the Gulf of Corinth. It prevents sailors from sailing more than 400 kilometers around the Peloponnese peninsula.

Stop At: Archaeological site of Mycenae, Mykines 212 00, Greece
Next, we will visit Mycenae, a fortress city of the Mycenaean civilization with impressive ruins, including the Lion's Gate and the Treasury of Atreus. We will visit the prehistoric Acropolis, the Lions' Gate and the tomb of Agamemnon.

Stop At: Epidavros 210 52, Greece
Then, we will visit the theater of Epidaurus, known worldwide for its acoustics and still active today offering theatrical and musical performances. We will also visit the museum of Asclepeion.

In the afternoon, we will drive through the central Peloponnese to the city of Olympia for accommodation and dinner.

Day 2: From Olympias to the navel of Delphos

Stop At: Olympia, Olympia, Elis Region, West Greece
In the morning we will visit the facilities of the Ancient Olympic Stadium, where the first Games were held in 776 BC. The importance of the Olympic Games is evident by their massive participation, since while they were being held, the Greek cities maintained a truce.

Stop At: Archaeological Site of Olympia, Archea Olympia, Olympia 27065 Greece
Olympia was also the most important sanctuary of the ancient Greeks, the place of worship of Zeus, and the site of one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, the gigantic sculpture of Zeus sculpted in gold and ivory by Phidias himself.

After the visit to the Museum of Olympia, we will continue to Delphi crossing a modern architectural marvel, the Rio-Antirio suspension bridge. Upon arrival in Delphi we will stay overnight and have dinner.

Greek Tip: The term "Olympiad" refers to a four-year unit of time, a time when people made peace in order to compete in the games.

Day 3: Meteora to Kalambaca Oracle

Stop At: Delphi, Delphi, Phocis Region, Central Greece
In the morning, after a refreshing breakfast, we will visit Delphi, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the navel of the ancient world, as the renowned Oracle of Delphi was consulted by kings and pilgrims alike.

We will also visit the museum that houses the "bronze charioteer". It is a masterpiece of Greek sculpture.

Stop At: Thessaly, Thessaly
After the visits, we will leave the slopes of Mount Parnassus to head towards the plains of Thessaly, where the city of Kalambaka is located.

Arrival and dinner.

Greek Tip: During the stop in Arakhova, take the opportunity to buy traditional wool carpets (flokati), wooden handicrafts, dry wines, honey and local cheeses (formaela) as souvenirs.

Day 4: Kalambaca to Attica

Stop At: Meteora, Meteora, Trikala Region, Thessaly
Early in the morning we will visit Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The natural beauty of the region is combined here with the timeless monasteries perched on the rocks. Currently, only six remain in use, five for male residents and one for female residents.

On our way back, we will pass by Thermopylae. There stands the statue of the Spartan King Leonidas I, famous for fighting the battle of the same name against the Persians.
