Wander Byron provides guided sunrise tours up to Byron Bay lighthouse that will align physical and spiritual wellness, allowing for gratitude, energy and enlightenment.

One hour prior to sunrise, guests meet their tour guide to enjoy an uplifting elixir to open their hearts & minds followed by an energising trail mix featuring local produce.

With a new sense of excitement, guests will embark on a 2hr adventure!

Guests will be taken on a hike through rainforest, beach and clifftops to be the first people in Australia to witness the spectacular sunrise at the most easterly point in the country.

Utilising yogic and ayurvedic traditions, you will be guided through sunrise salutations and breathwork during this spiritually charged time.

One hour prior to sunrise, guests meet their tour guide for a briefing and acknowledgment of country. Guests enjoy an uplifting and refreshing elixir to open their hearts & minds followed by an energising trail mix featuring local native produce.

Wander Byron operates within Cape Byron State conservation area and under an exclusive licence with NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service. Walgun, as Cape Byron is known by its traditional custodians, maintains spiritual, cultural and historical importance for the Bundjalung of Byron Bay (Arakwal) Aboriginal People. Aboriginal people have lived in the area for more than 40,000 years. Everything in the landscape has significance – land and waterways, plants and animals are associated with dreaming stories, cultural learning, cultural activities and cultural uses. It’s imperative that we all work together to conserve these areas.

Bottlenose dolphins are a reliable attraction and regularly seen charging through the surf. You may also observe turtles coming up to breath, rays swimming around the cape and a wide variety of sharks. Humpback whales migrate up and down the east coast between May and November.Various animals and reptiles are commonly seen on the trek including vulnerable and endangered species such as koalas, flying-foxes and rock-wallabies.

As the adventure reaches the lighthouse, wanderers will get to enjoy the first sunrise in Australia and connect with the sun, a symbol of our eternal, expansive, unlimited being. When Sunlight hits our eyes, the pineal gland in our body, which is also referred to as the third eye, gets activated. With this activation, you can manifest and achieve your dreams close to your heart.

During sunrise, wanderers will be guided through a series of sun salutations which are a sequence of yoga poses (asanas) which are designed to engage, stretch, and invigorate the whole body while keeping the focus on meditative breathing. Conditioning the body and calming the mind during sunrise will ensure a bounty of benefits are received.

The therapeutic technique of sun salutations during sunrise will result in a state of mindful awareness. This mental state will focus one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.

The rocks forming the headland of Cape Byron are sedimentary, laid down on the seabed 300-500 million years ago. Movement of the earth’s crust later on heaved these layers above sea level, contorting and tilting them.

For every guided tour booked, Wander gives $3.50 to NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service. The money is used to monitor vulnerable species and address threats, which can include feral animals, weeds and fire, and implements actions to target their impacts. There are a number of significant Aboriginal sites and artefacts within Cape Byron Conservation Area and the money also goes towards protecting these important cultural items.
