The Outer Cape is lined with beautiful lighthouses that have lit the way for ships through the Cape's treacherous sandbars for centuries!

We will begin by driving the scenic route through the Provincetown National Seashore, catching views of Provincetown's 3 lighthouses. Next we'll make our way to the Truro Highland Lighthouse where we’ll spend time on a guided tour of the tower, museum and gift shop. At the very top you'll enjoy beautiful scenic vistas of the Outer Cape's Atlantic coastline and the first links golf club built in the United States! After we'll enjoy a stroll to the Highland House Museum. This one of a kind museum boasts a quality of its own from the rich maritime history, Native American history and American Art history all under one roof!
*Please note the Highland House Museum opens June 1st. Bookings before the 1st will spend more time at the National Seashore.

Itinerary

Stop At: 27 Highland Light Rd, Truro, MA 02652

Here we will stop and allow for an approximate 90 minute tour of both the Cape Cod Light and the Highland house Museum. We will join guided tours for both and be able to climb to the top of the oldest and tallest light house on Cape Cod! The Highland Light was built in 1797 and is rich in maritime history. This will be a guided tour of the lighthouse and we'll be able to climb to the very top!
After we will enjoy a 10 minute stroll to the Highland House museum. This is a fabulous museum where Henry David Thoreau stayed while working on his great novel Cape Cod. The museum once was the 1st hotel on the outer Cape and each room has been turned into "museum rooms" depicting what life would have been like living in the 1800's. The museum is also filled with maritime, Indian and art history. The great artists Edward & Josephine Hopper, have their very own room showcasing some of the incredible produced in the early to mid 1900's.

Stop At: Highland House Museum, 6 Highland Light Road, North Truro, MA 02652

A beautiful museum which was one of the first hotels on The Cape. See where Henry David Thoreau stayed on his journey while writng his book Cape Cod! Visit inside the museum on a guided tour to see how life was in the 1800's!

Pass By: Cape Cod Provincelands Trail, Route 6 north toward Provincetown, Provincetown, MA

On our way to the historic Cape Cod Light House and Highland House Museum we'll travel thru Provincelands National Park and take in the beautiful natural scenary of the famous Cape Cod sand dunes and iconic Beech Forest!
