at about 9:00 am, our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Ürgüp or Göreme, and transfer you to southern Cappadocia, an area famous for its moon- rock formations, fairy chimneys and ancient underground settlements. Along the way, you will hear about the geology of the region and you will know some of the sights to come.
Then, we will make the first stop in Pigeon Valley, a beautiful ravine where thousands of pigeons have been dug in rocks and cliffs. We will have time to take pictures of the dovecotes while your guide explains how over the centuries, local farmers kept pigeons to use their excrement as a crop fertilizer.
Next, we head for the Red Valley, an impressive area of ??red and multicolored cones, peaks and cliffs.
The tour continues to the underground city of Kaymakli, one of the best preserved of its kind in Cappadocia. We will go to the subsoil and we will enter in its passages of rock and rooms cut by hand while you discover how long ago the Christians used them as hiding places to escape the persecution.
The next stop will be Çavu?in, a deserted village on a hillside. We will marvel at the desolate rock houses, caves and shelters and listen to people who once called them their home and why they left.
During your explorations, we will have a break for lunch at a local restaurant and visit Avanos, a city famous for its beautiful ceramic and handicraft industries.
We will visit a workshop to see the potters in action. As you observe, you will learn about the local clay work techniques that have been passed down through generations of potters.
Your tour ends with a transfer from the hotel.
