Full-Day Trip: Glenfinnan Viaduct & The Highlands from Edinburgh

Take in the stunning Highland locations made famous by the Harry Potter and James Bond film series.

Passing famous landmarks such as Linlithgow Palace, the mythical Kelpies, and the dramatically perched Stirling Castle.

Head north through Glencoe while your Driver / Guide points out the film locations for the James Bond and Harry Potter franchise

Stop in the Fort William area for lunch before a short drive to the Glenfinnan viaduct which was made famous from its scenes in the Harry Potter movies from the filming of the Hogwarts Express. Take a short walk to the viewpoint where you will have unparallel views across to the viaduct and over Loch Shiel.

The road home will be time to relax and take in the Highland scenery. Final stop is at the historic town of Pitlochry before continuing home over the Firth of Forth alongside UNESCO Forth Rail Bridge enroute back into Edinburgh.

Stop At: Callander, Callander, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, Scotland

Our first stop for refreshments and a comfort break is Callander, where you will have a chance to grab a snack and stretch your legs. If you're lucky enough, you may have the chance to meet the Highland Cows (season dependant).

Stop At: Glencoe, Glencoe, Scottish Highlands, Scotland

The site of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald Clan, Glencoe is one of Scotland’s most famous glens. Here you will hop off for a photo opportunity with the dramatic northern ridges known as the Three Sisters

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Fort William, Fort William, Lochaber, Scottish Highlands, Scotland

Nearing the half way point on our tour we stop off Fort William known as the capital of the Highlands. Here you will have time to have lunch in one of the many local pubs, restaurants or cafe's that line the cobbled main street.

Stop At: Glenfinnan Viaduct, Glenfinnan Lodge A830 Rd, Glenfinnan PH37 4LT Scotland

Made famous from its scenes in the Harry Potter movies, The Glenfinnan Viaduct is surrounded by mountains on the stunning shores of Loch Shiel. From the visitors centre you will be able to take a short walk to the viewpoint in time for the awesome sight of the Jacobite Steam Train (not to be confused with the Hogwarts' Express) crossing the viaduct. You can spend the remainder of your time taking in the breath-taking views down the glen across Loch Shiel which is the used in various Harry Potter scenes as well as the loch on which Hogwarts sits.

Stopping in the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry for a chance to stretch the legs and grab some light refreshments before the final leg of the journey home
