Stop At: Stirling Castle, Castle Esplanade Upper Castle Hill, Old Town, Stirling FK8 1EJ Scotland

From Glasgow we travel for 37 minutes through the countryside north east of Glasgow to Stirling, a town dominated by the magnificent Stirling Castle and some very famous battles in Scotland's history. Entrance fee to Castle £18 per adult, £11 per child.

Stop At: National Wallace Monument, Hillfoots Road Abbey Craig, Stirling FK9 5LF Scotland

Just a 10 minute drive from Stirling Castle is the astonishing Wallace monument, 220 feet high, a tribute to William Wallace. With towering views over Stirling and the surrounding landscape. Entrance fee to the monument is £10.75 per adult, £6.75 per child.

Stop At: Stirling Bridge, Bridgehaugh Road, Stirling Scotland

Just a 5 minute drive from The Wallace Monument and sitting below the castle, the present Stirling Bridge was built in the 1400s replacing a succession of timber bridges. In 1297 William Wallace defeated Edward 1's forces at The Battle of Stirling Bridge. Today the bridge is one of the best medieval masonry arch bridges in Scotland.

Just 10 minutes from Stirling Bridge we arrive at Bannockburn. In June 1314 The Battle of Bannockburn was fought between the army of Robert The Bruce, King of Scots and the army of King Edward the Second of England, during the first war of Scottish Independence. It was a decisive victory for the Scots and a major turning point in the war.

Stop At: Glengoyne Distillery, Dumgoyne, Glasgow G63 9LB Scotland

The 43 minute scenic drive from Stirling to Glengoyne takes us through farmland and hills with views across to the imposing Highland geological fault line. A tour of the distillery with a tasting session costs £18 per adult. The itinerary can be easily adjusted, you may want just a visit to the distillery shop and to soak in the ambience of a Scotch whisky distillery.

Stop At: Queen's View & The Whangie Car Park, UK, Glasgow G63 9AX, UK

A short 10 minute journey from Glengoyne brings us to the Queen's view. As soon as we drive into the car park a panorama unfolds, a short walk of about 400 yards takes us above the car park and the panorama now becomes spectacular. Loch Lomond framed by a line of peaks as far as the eye can see. (Weather permitting). 30 minutes stay. From the Queen's view, it is a 30 minute drive back to Glasgow
