Gastro-Day at A Coruña

This is a gastronomic experience like no other at La Coruña to discover Galician specialities. After our ‘chocolate con churros’ at Pencil & Fork, we will visit with David, our local foodie, the vibrant food market at the Plaza de Lugo. A great opportunity to learn about the Galician gastronomic culture. David will buy all products we will need for the evening Cooking Masterclass.
It will then be time for an ‘aperitivo’ so we’ll go to a local bar specialised in ‘vermouth’ to taste this aromatised wine. The vermouth will open our appetite, thus we will enjoy a tapas lunch and dessert at a fine ‘taberna’ nearby. The first part of our day will be over around 15:30 to have some free time.
At 19:00 we’ll come back to Pencil & Fork for our Cooking Masterclass. After a welcome cocktail, we will all prepare a delicious seafood dinner poured with a nice local wine or beer too, of course. We will finish around 21:30.

We will meet at 11:30 at Pencil & Fork (Alfredo Vicenti 29), a cosy and stylish establishment in the centre of La Coruña, to start our great day with a ‘chocolate con churros’. At 12:00 with our local foodie, we will then visit the famous and vibrant food market at the Plaza de Lugo.

We will see the never-ending varieties of seafood and fish just coming fresh from the boats every day, ready for selling. The market also hosts a second floor for meat and poultry, and a third one for veggies and fruits. We will be witnesses of the trading environment with the locals. A great opportunity to learn about the Galician gastronomic culture, one of the best (if not the best!) in Spain. The guide will buy all products we will need for the Cooking Masterclass we will enjoy in the evening.

It will then be time for an ‘aperitivo’ so we’ll go to a local bar (Vermutería Martínez) specialised in ‘vermouth’, the very well loved aromatised fortified wine we will already enjoy with a nice tapa. The vermouth will open our appetite, thus we will enjoy a tapas lunch and dessert at a typical restaurant (Bemboa) nearby at 14:00.

We’ll come back to Pencil & Fork for our Cooking Masterclass.
