Endemic Birds Tour in Salento

Endemic Birds Tour in Salento

The Santa Rita Waterfall is a cattle farm in the process of sustainable transformation. Within the property there are secondary forests and two rivers which flow into the Quindío River. By visiting this reserve we can enjoy the natural beauty of the cloud forest around Salento and support its preservation and restoration.

We'll follow a path from the open farmland into the forest, passing through tunnels, caves and waterfalls, while we look for target species from the Colombian such as Andes Andean Cock of the Rock (Rupicula peruvianus), Cauca Guan (Penelope perspicax), and Multicoloured Tanager (Chlorochrysa nitidissima).

Itinerary

We will take a bus from Salento bus terminal for around 10 min to get to Boquía where we will start the birding tour at the Santa Rita Nature Reserve. Inside the reserve we can see a range of bird species including Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Crested Ant-Tanager, and Multicoloured Tanager.
