Cairn Gorm Mountain Adventure Private Hike

Cairn Gorm Mountain Adventure Private Hike

The Cairngorms mountains are some of the wildest in Britain, with some of the rarest wildlife in Britain. Your professional guide is uniquely qualified to provide expert leadership in both mountaineering AND wildlife and birding. Learn about the highly specialised creatures and plants that inhabit this wild area, and the conservation and rewilding work being done in the wider national park.

Itinerary

An adventurous hike, enjoying the scenery and nature of some of the highest mountain terrain in Britain. Discover glacier-carved landscape, inhabited by arctic animals and plants. The weather can be pretty wild, though!

Perhaps over a coffee, we will get to know each other, check gear and agree a plan for the day. With changeable weather, we want to make the best of our time together!

Our hike usually begins at the Cairngorm Mountain ski area, full of local ski history! We aim to go high, following well-constructed mountain trails up over the tundra-like landscape.

Several routes exist up onto the famous Cairngorm plateau, starting at around 640m to about 1240m. Total distance is at least 5km. We will pause as we go to admire the view, eat, adjust layers or appreciate the rare and specialised wildlife that can be found here.

The weather is a big factor in our mountain plans, but we hope to summit Cairn Gorm, after which the whole national park is named. We may extend the walk onto the wild, remote plateau, or head for the relative shelter and spectacular cliffs of the famous Northern Corries.

Our adventure finishes with a gradual descent back down to the ski area carpark.
