Stop At: Monteverde Hummingbird Gallery, End of the 620 road Just Outside Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, 60109 Costa Rica

The hummingbird gallery is a great place to photograph some of the hummingbird species in the area that come to feed at the gallery's feeders, in addition to the opportunity to purchase gifts and souvenirs from your trip in the gallery store.

Stop At: Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, 22 MI Southeast Of Tilaran 35 km, Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve 55-5655 Costa Rica

The Monteverde Cloud Forest is set at an elevation of 4724 ft (1440 m) above sea level, this makes it attract a range of tropical avian species. The Resplendent Quetzal, a bird that migrates to lower areas of the reserve during the mating season is one of the many birds that can be spotted here. 30 of the 400 species that can be found here are hummingbirds and the endangered three-wattled bellbird, can be found here as well. The Monteverde Cloud Forest has more than 25.730 acres (10.400 ha) of forest and a lot of well-maintained trails.

The Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve is a little higher than the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and also less visited and smaller, with 765 acres (310 ha) of forest. But the plant-rich cloud forest gives visitors a chance to spot a number of bird species including the Collared Trogon, Black face Solitare, Goldem-browed Chlorophonia, Coppery-headed Emerald, spangle-cheeked Tanager and more.
