The historical palace at Sidi Bou Said, in northern Tunisia, was built from 1912 - 1922 by Baron Rodolphe d'Erlanger (1872–1932) as his home in Tunisia. It is known as an outstanding example of Arab-Islamic architecture in Tunisia and was built with historic elements by craftsmen from Tunisia. After the independence of Tunisia in 19, it was the first museum to be opened in the country.

It is an old and luxurious summer house that was built in the Tunisian architectural style inspired by the magnificent Andalusian character, in the eighteenth century AD by Mufti Muhammad El Annabi. The house has a beautiful courtyard surrounded by different rooms containing the original old furniture, with a group of statues that express the traditions and general character of this society, such as wax statues that represent the henna party for the bride.
