3-Day Hiking & Trekking Tour Remote Villages in Guba

Azerbaijan’s countryside on a 3-day 2-night hiking and trekking tour to remote villages of Guba along historic trails of the Greater Caucasus Mountains that have been used by ancient people of the Mountains.

This trekking travells through changing landscapes, nature and wildlife above sea level up to 2360m altitude. You experience the coexistence of communities, though in separate settlements, Shiites, Sunnis and Jews in Guba, and ancient peoples of Khinaligis, Grizis in remote villages. You also do a homestay with host families in the villages we travel to. Meanwhile, you will taste the local cuisine of people.

Itinerary

Day 1: Tour to Guba-Khinalug

Stop At: Guba-Khachmaz Region, Guba-Khachmaz Region
Early morning drive to the north of Azerbaijan, in Guba sightseeing in Jewish Town/Red Town and bird-eye view of Jewish Town, and mosques of Shiite (Sakina Khanum Mosque, XIX cent) and Sunni (Juma mosque, XIX cent) communities of the town, then visit Guba Genocide Memorial Complex. After the lunch break, drive to Khinalug (stop at several spots on the way to Khinalug in 2350m altitude). Dinner in Khinalug with a local family. Overnight stay in Khinalug.

Accommodation included: Stay overnight with our host in Khinalug.
The toilets are outhouse squats. The showers are outhouse.

Day 2: Trekking From Khinalug-Galaykhutad-Griz

Stop At: Qrız, Azerbaijan
Breakfast. Hiking to Galaykhudat Village. Lunch break in the village. Afterwards continue hiking to Griz Village, on the way stop at Gurgur waterfall. We are then hiking to Griz. In the village visit our host family for dinner. Overnight stay in the Village.
Duration: 1 day

Meals included:
• Breakfast: We will be served breakfast in Khinalug.
• Lunch: We will be served tea & lunch at our host with ingredients available to the conditions of a remote village lifestyle.
• Dinner: We will be served tea & lunch at our host with ingredients available to the conditions of a remote village lifestyle.
Accommodation included: Stay overnight with our host in Griz.
The toilets are outhouse squats. The showers are outhouse.

Day 3: Hiking from Griz or Grizdahna and Drive to Baku

Stop At: Qırızdəhnə, Azerbaijan
Breakfast. Hiking to Grizdahna. Get taxis to drive back to Guba and drive back to Baku.
Duration: 12 hours

Meals included:
• Breakfast: We will be served breakfast in Griz.
• Lunch: We stop for lunch in Guba.
No accommodation included on this day.
