The Paracas National Reserve was created with the purpose of conserving ecosystems of the sea and the desert of Peru.
It was declared a National Reserve in 1975 and has an extension of 335,000 hectares.

Archaeological Sites
It is not uncommon to find archaeological sites in Peru, and the Paracas National Reserve is not the exception. In the reserve there are more than 100 archaeological sites, in all of them we can see samples of the ancient inhabitants of Peru.
In the reserve there is also a museum that explains a little more the training and they inhabited those coasts. We can find all the information in the Julio C. Tello Site Museum

Flora and Fauna
It is estimated that there are about 216 species of birds, 36 of mammals, 10 of reptiles being the most representative:
Birds: flamingo or parihuana (Phoenicopterus chilensis), the Humboldt penguin (Spheniscus humboldti), the potoyunco (Pelecanoides garnotii), the tendril (Larosterna inca) and eventually the Andean condor (Vultur gryphus)
Mammals: fine sea lions (Arcthocephalus australis), sea wolves (Otarya bironia) and sea cat or otter (Lontra felina)
Flora: Although the species are not many, since it is located in a desert zone, we can see mainly cacti

How to get to the Paracas National Reserve
It is 250 km south of Lima, accessible by the South Pan-American Highway. It is located between the districts of Paracas and Salas.
