Stop At: Hauptplatz, Linz Austria

Start your tour at the Hauptplatz which is the main square of the city and one of the largest enclosed squares in Austria. Here, you will see the meaningful Trinity Column designed in baroque style and carved in white marble. It dates back to 1723.

Stop At: Old Town Hall, Hauptplatz 1, Linz 4020 Austria

Located closeby is the Altes Rathaus (Old city hall). It is enclosed by buildings with an important historical background with striking facades which characterize the square's appearance.

Stop At: Martinskirche, Romerstrasse Ecke Martingasse - Direkt Hinter dem Schloss, Linz Austria

You will then walk by the Linz Castle that was built between 1364 and 1368 by Heinrich von Virneburg before you arrive at the Martinskirche (Saint Martin's Church). It is one of the oldest churches in Austria. Here, you will find Roman inscriptions and a copy of the famous Volto Santo of Lucca.

Stop At: Amt der Oberösterreichischen Landesregierung - Landhaus, Landhausplatz 1, 4020 Linz, Austria

Our next stop will be the Landhaus dating back to the 16th century and designed in renaissance style. One of the striking features is the Planetenbrunnen (Fountain of the planets) which was made in memory of Johannes Kepler. Interestingly, The Johannes Kepler University Linz is also named in honor of the famous astronomer.

Stop At: Mariendom, Herrenstrasse 26, Linz 4020 Austria

Continue on to Mariendom (New Cathedral) which is the largest church in Austria, it can accommodate up-to twenty thousand people. The church is designed in neo-gothic style. You will be astonished when you see the stained glass windows, especially the Linz Window that depicts the history of Linz.

Pass By: Landstraße, 4020 Linz, Austria

As we move on, you will stroll on the Landstrasse, one of the most popular shopping streets in Austria where you will find a wide variety of products and high-end stores. Here, you will also see the church known as Ursulinenkirche dedicated to the Archangel Michael.


Stop At: Alter Dom, Domgasse, Linz 4020 Austria

Finally, you will visit the Alter Dom (Old Cathedral) also called the Church of Ignatius, built between the year 1669 and 1683 in Baroque style. It is located at the southern end of the main square, the Hauptplatz.
