Itinerary

Pass By: Zurich, Zurich

We will start our tour at Paradeplatz, a square at the start of Bahnhofstrasse. It is the most expensive area of the city and has been synonymous for banks and the swiss status-quo for years. You will see here the headquarters of banking giants like UBS and Credit Suisse, just to name a few.
Our walk will then take us to the past and the old town, to see the Fraumünster. One of the four reformed churches in the old city, it is one of the symbols of Zurich. Once a benedictine monastery, its foundation is involved in legend.
From here we cross the Limmat river to see the next religious center of Zurich, the Grossmünster. Also a reformed church, it’s patrons are Felix and Regula as well as Exuperantius. It’s characteristic double towers are the symbol of Zurich.
Time to delve further into the old town, and next on the list is Lindenhof, which together with the Rathaus (City Hall) block, forms the oldest part of Zurich. First inhabited 1500 years BC, many different ethnic groups have lived here, from Kelts, Romans and then Germanic tribes.
After a dive in the history of the city, time to continue to Niederdorf (or as the swiss call it, Dörfli). It is part of the city hall block and if mostly known as the fun side of town, where all restaurants, shops, cinemas and the night life of Zurich is located.
After a walk on the funky side of town, all we are missing is a walk back to the lake, along Limmatquai, a street named after the Limmat river on its right-hand (eastern) bank. Part of it is a pedestrian zone shared with Zürich's trams, from the Bahnhofbrücke bridge and Central plaza to the the Quaibrücke bridge and Bellevueplatz square, where the lake begins. It has the best views towards the lake and the old town.
Our tour will end next to the lakeshore, for a beautiful view of the Limmat River and lake Zurich, its bridges and to send you off for a personal walk on the narrow roads of the city center.
