This is the highest point reachable by bus. Climbers usually start their ascension from the 5th station.

Oshino Hakkai is a small traditional village famous for its eight ponds that are known for containing Japan's purest water, coming from melted snow from the top of the mountain, filtered through porous layers of solidified lava.
