This 1,3h Bird Watching and Historical Tour in the Ria Formosa Natural Park is a delight for both keen birdwatchers and simple nature lovers. You’ll get to see the natural beauty and wildlife, and the ecological and sustainable activities of the local people, with excellent opportunities for great holiday pics!

Definitely a birdwatchers' paradise, the Ria Formosa Natural Park is recognised as an important wetland with exceptional ecosystems for bird life. It is a true sanctuary of nature and a privileged location to birdwatching, being a feeding station and nesting site for migratory and resident species.

On this tour we will be looking for the birds, and get to see the ecological and sustainable activities of the Ria Formosa, as the salt extraction, using methods which are 2000 years old, the colourful fleet of boats with traditional fishing artefacts, and the seafood shellfish gatherers.

You don't have to be an expert! You just have to enjoy and try to observe the many beautiful and fascinating birds, not to mention all the other wildlife we see along the way.
