Itinerary

Pass By: Cuenca, Cuenca, Azuay Province

We will start our tour early in the morning picking up our passengers from the city of Cuenca, beginning our excursion to one of the most important archaeological sites.

Stop At: Ingapirca, Ingapirca, Canar Province

We will arrive at the city of Ingapirca where we will visit the Ingapirca Archaeological Site, the largest and best preserved in Ecuador. It is located between mountains, about 80 kilometers to the north, from Cuenca.

Stop At: Ingapirca Archaeological Complex, F45G+P8H, GUAPÁN, Ecuador

Then, we will visit the important archaeological site. This site has a large oval construction that was used for ritual and astronomical purposes. They were ceremonial centers where rituals were performed specifically of the Cañari-Inca culture. The ruins include the Temple of the Sun and spaces that were used for strategic-military purposes. During the visit to the ruins you will be able to observe how different spaces dedicated to a cemetery, solar observatories, roads, deposits, priests' residences and an native square were integrated. This great Ingapirca site allows us to learn more about the Cañari and Inca culture.

We will also have the opportunity to visit the Ingapirca Museum, a cultural space dedicated to those who inhabited the area. It has four rooms where the local history and the vestiges of old residents are exposed, thematic rooms: cañari (Tacalshapa and Cashaloma); Inca; rotating exhibitions and Qapac Ñan or Inca Trail. The museum also has a reserve of about 2500 cultural heritage objects of the region.

During our journey by bus we will have the possibility to observe wonderful Andean landscapes and its local people with their typical colorful clothes. Along the way we will find the famous "cascaritas", a typical dish of the area. (Sundays)

After a day of cultural exploration, we return to Cuenca in the afternoon.
