Colosseum by Evening Guided Tour with Arena Floor
The Colosseum is a must-see when exploring Rome, and there’s no better way to make your visit special than by waiting for the gates to close, the sun to set, the air to cool, and twilight to paint the amphitheater in golden light.
On this VIP tour, you’ll enjoy access to restricted areas, including the partially reconstructed Arena Floor and admire the most recent discovery of graffiti dating back to Late Middle Ages. All without the usual crowds, noise and heat of a daytime visit.

Stop At: Colonna Traiana, Via dei Fori Imperiali, Rome Italy
Our tour starts with Trajan’s Column where you’ll pass through Via dei Fori Imperiali overlooking the Roman Forum (closed at this hour), the civic historical centre. Home to the bustling marketplace, ruled by moneylenders and shopkeepers, this was Rome at its finest. Here politicians held rallies before elections, soldiers marched triumphantly down the Via Sacra, and the Vestal Virgins decided if men lived or died.
Duration: 20 minutes
Stop At: Roman Forum, Largo della Salara Vecchia 5/6, 00186 Rome Italy
See a spectacular view of the Roman Forum (from outside). Even the ancient Romans rarely saw the Colosseum like this: empty, peaceful, and cool. But away from the crowds, and with your guide on hand to fill in any details, it’s easy to imagine the arena as it once was.
Duration: 15 minutes
Stop At: Colosseum, Piazza del Colosseo, 00184 Rome Italy
As that empire expanded, so did the Colosseum’s repertoire. The Arena Floor filled with combatants, creatures and recreations of tales from far-flung places. Not only will you get to enter the Colosseum after it closes to the public, you’ll enjoy access to restricted areas, including the Arena Floor itself.
With the amphitheater lit up like the grand stadium it once was, and without the usual daytime crowd, you’ll have the chance to capture some truly amazing photos. See the Colosseum through the eyes of both gladiators and spectators and admire the most recent discovery of graffiti representing people’s names, dates, sacred and profane symbols illustrating stories about people who lived, worked and hung out at Colosseum.
