Transfer to Panama Canal (Miraflores Locks)
We will pick-up you at your hotel which must be located within the City Limits and you will be taken to the Canal. During this transfer you will be able to observe, the administration building of the Panama Canal, will pass through one of the largest shopping centers in Panama.
Meet your guide at your Panama City hotel, and make your way to the Miraflores Locks on a route that takes in Ancon Hill, parts of Panama’s Old Town and Albrook Mall, the largest shopping center in the city. Watch a video that explain the construction and operation of the canal, and explore a series of exhibits and scale models. The Miraflores Locks are the tallest on the entire canal, and it’s thrilling to watch ships make the slow step-up or step-down as they travel between sea level on the Pacific Ocean and Gatun Lake, whose surface is 85 feet (26 meters) above sea level. This is also the perfect place to see parts of the canal expansion that was completed in June, 2016. The recent project adding a new lane of boat traffic that doubles the Panama Canal’s capacity to accommodate ‘New Panamax’ ships that carry staggering cargoes between the two oceans.
