Bombed during World War II, York still preserves the market and an important number of streets and houses built over 600 years ago, allowing us to travel to the Middle Ages.
Climb the steps and walk a portion of the City Walls. With 3.5 km of solid stone, they offer another experience with fantastic views.

Ruins of St. Mary's Abbey, an important Benedictine Monastery established in York in the XII century, and dissolved but King Henry VIII in 1540's. Museum Gardens, Roman Tower, King's Manor.


Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: 11 Shambles, York YO1 7LZ England

Medieval street, next to the market. A great collection of houses and 'snickelways' (very short streets) built during the Middle Ages. An ideal setting to inspire images of Harry Potter!
Shambles is one of the York most famous landmarks.

Stop At: St. Helen's Square, City Centre, York YO1 8QN England

Mansion house -the residency of the Lord Major- the former entrance to Roman York and buildings from the XVIII and XIX centuries, a busy corner of York, with bars and restaurants.

We climb some steps and explore a sector of this formidable medieval wall, very well preserved. To access and exit the city walls, there is always one of the many large towers used as entrance to the city for hundreds of years.

Stop At: Merchant Adventurers' Hall, Fossgate, York YO1 9XD England

We stop to admire this beautiful building finished in 1360 AD.
For centuries, this magnificent house was the centre of commercial activities for some of the influential people of York.
A jewel in the middle of the city.
