Pecan Farm Experience, Byron Bay's hinterland
This tour offers an authentic Byron Bay hinterland experience to travellers visiting the Northern Rivers. It allows the community to learn about local products, meet with their local farmers and understand the hard work behind following sustainable farming practices. This is the perfect outdoor activity to discover the beauty of the Northern Rivers and taste the delicious products of the Byron hinterland.
Our Pecan Farm experience includes:
- a scenic road trip to discover the beautiful landscape of the Northern Rivers
- a farm tour of Barefoot Farm Byron Hinterland
- a demonstration of pecans harvesting and processing
- making your own pecan butter (useful skill to have!)
- a delicious pecan-based morning tea
- an opportunity to buy more local farm products from Barefoot Farm.
Guests will be picked-up from their pick-up address in Byron Bay, or will meet us at the Byron Visitor Centre on Jonson St at 8AM on the day of the experience. We will then drive to our farm site in Eltham via beautiful scenic roads of the Northern Rivers.
Upon arrival, guests will be introduced to our pecan farmers, Matt and Ash, two accomplished chefs with a paddock-to-plate passion who decided to leave everything behind to become pecan farmers. Matt and Ash will give them a tour of Barefoot Farm and tell them everything there is to know about pecan nuts farming.
We will then go onto a pecan products tasting followed by a cooking class to learn how to make our own pecan butter, and finally enjoy a delicious pecan-based morning tea before hitting the road again.
