Stop At: Avenida dos Aliados, Av. dos Aliados, 4000 Porto, Portugal

You will first explore Aliados Avenue, a beautiful avenue, originally named Allied Nations Avenue, which was opened in 1916 after a renovation plan for the city center connecting the Trinity and Liberty squares. You can see among others the statue of Almeida Garrett, writer, poet, speaker, politician who was one of the greatest figures of Portuguese romanticism.

Pass By: Igreja de Santo Antonio dos Congregados, Rua Sa da Bandeira 11, Porto 4000-433 Portugal

You will go past Santo Antonio dos Congregados Church, which was inaugurated on 8th December 1680 and is dedicated to Saint Anthony whose interior murals represent scenes from his life. Its baroque façade of the 17th century is covered with beautiful Portuguese "azulejos", or tiles.

Stop At: Sao Bento Railway Station, Praca Almeida Garrett, Porto 4000-069 Portugal

São Bento Train Station is a must-see in Porto, especially for those who love the typical tiles that cover the city. These tiles, in particular, tell us an important part of portuguese history, some might say it even sounds like something out of Game of Thrones.

Stop At: Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral), S/N0 Terreiro Se 3 Centro Histórico, Porto 4050-573 Portugal

There will be a quick stop at Sé Catedral, a romanesque monument built in the 12th century. You can see a beautiful rosette on its façade, and if you go inside you will be able to marvel at its marble interior and several paintings by Nasoni.

You will cross the Douro river through the Infante Bridge, in order to reach Vila Nova de Gaia and its magnificent Serra do Pilar Monastery. From Infante Bridge you will be able to enjoy a unique perspective of Porto’s most famous bridge: Dom Luís I, as well as its smaller twin: D. Maria Pia bridge. Both of which were designed and built in collaboration between Théophile Seyrig and Gustave Eiffel.

One of Porto's main squares, its name translates into "battle square" due to an important battle that took place in the 10th century.

Stop At: Edificio da Reitoria da Universidade do Porto, Praca Gomes Teixeira, Porto 4099-002 Portugal

Reitoria Square and The Science faculty were built in neo classical style Gomes Teixeira Square. Its construction began during the reign of D. João VI and ended in the nineteenth century. Inside, are Veloso Salgado’s paintings made in 1917. In 1651, the priest “Padre Baltazar Guedes ” founded the Seminario dos Meninos Orfaos. Then have followed the Real Academia da Marinha do Comercio e, Academia Politecnica.

Pass By: Centro Portugues de Fotografia, Largo Amor de Perdicao Building of the former Jail and Court of Appeal, Porto 4050-008 Portugal

This iconic building that is now a cultural hub was once a prison.

Pass By: Palacio da Bolsa, Rua Ferreira Borges, Porto 4050-253 Portugal

You can admire the “Palacio da Bolsa”. Construction began October 6, 1842, Tuscan and neoclassical architecture of the eighteenth century, as well as English and Arabic influences. Inside the Arab living parallelogram is beautiful.

Stop At: Torre dos Clerigos, Rua Sao Filipe Neri, Porto 4050-546 Portugal

The Clerigos Tower, “Igreja e Torre dos Clérigos” representation of baroque style in the heart of the city, the work of the mid-18th century began exactly its construction in 1732. The interior is made of granite and marble, covered with gilded wood carvings. The internal staircase (225 steps) allows access to the top (76 meters) from where you can admire one of the most beautiful views of Porto. Masterpiece Nicolau Nasoni, Italian painter decorator, fell in love with northern Portugal.

Crossing the bridge to Ribeira de Vila Nova de Gaia. You will then be on the left bank of the River Douro, a river which rises in Spain in the province of Soria, 2080 meters above the sea level, runs through Portugal and empties into the Atlantic. The city has experienced great prosperity in the 18th century and so far hosts the biggest Porto wine cellars whose activity dates back to 1692.

Pass By: Ponte da Arrabida, Via de Cintura Interna, Porto 4150 Portugal

You will go under Ponte da Arrábida, a concrete bridge measuring 615 meters long and 27 meters wide which connects the South to the North of Portugal and which represented a significant development for the whole country. This project was conducted by the engineer Edgar Cardoso and inaugurated on 22 June 1963.

Stop At: Igreja Paroquial de S. Pedro da Afurada, R. Sao Pedro, Vila Nova de Gaia 4400-346 Portugal

Explore typical fishermen village São Pedro da Afurada known for its traditions and among others for its festival in honor of São Pedro (St. Peter), patron saint of fishermen in the end of June. Stroll the cobblestone-lined streets with typical houses tiled with azulejos, you might enjoy eating the catch of the day and notably grilled sardines served with « Broa de Avintes» under the watchful eye of this fishing community.

The Marina do Douro “Douro Marina” is a marina with 300 moorings for boats. This is a new concept that unites sport, leisure, tourism and nature in an innovative range of services and activities, aimed at resting sailors but also for boat lovers.

Stop At: Reserva Natural Estuario do Douro, R. do Cabedelo Baia de Sao Paio, Vila Nova de Gaia 4400-687 Portugal

This is a real richness, 7 kms from Pont Luis I, Cabedelo and Baia de S.Paio. The protection of birds and flora are the main objectives of this “station “. Migratory birds coming from Africa and Scandinavia can be found in this bird sanctuary, a protected area, a shelter to feed and recover strength before continuing their migration to the Eastern Atlantic area.
