The extreme temperature fluctuations in the Namib Desert have led to severe erosion of the granite mountain formations. Therefore, what is left of the mountain range is called the “Moon Landscape”.

Stop At: Welwitschia Plains, Swakopmund Namibia

Welwitschia is a monotypic gymnosperm genus, comprising solely the distinctive Welwitschia mirabilis, endemic to the Namib desert within Namibia. Commonly known as the "living fossil".
