A historical and cultural tour in Belo Horizonte

This is a unique experience, as you will have the opportunity to walk through the original area of Belo Horizonte, where the city was originally built and from where it was developed to what it is currently. During the tour, we will visit several important points of interest of the city and in all of them, the historical and cultural importance of each location will be explained. We will make a geographical, historical, cultural and architectural contextualization of each place we go. In the end, visitors will have a much broader view of the city of Belo Horizonte (and the state of Minas Gerais) than they used to have previously. After just over 3.5 hours of this walking tour, visitors will have more historical and cultural knowledge about the city than most locals.

Stop At: Praca da Liberdade, Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais Brazil

We'll meet at "Praça da Liberdade" (Liberty Square), famous tourist attraction of BH. We'll walk around the square, when I'll talk about the history of the city and show the buldings that make up the "Praça da Liberdade Complex".

Stop At: Rua da Bahia, R. da Bahia - Lourdes, Belo Horizonte - MG, Brazil

We'll walk through "Rua da Bahia" - important cultural and historical center of the city - and we'll pass by some points of interest (such as the Basilica of Lourdes, Academy of Letters of Minas Gerais, Maletta building, Fashion Museum, etc) until we reach the next stop: "Parque Municipal" (Municipal Park).

We'ill visit the famous Maletta Building and get to know a little about the history and what currently happens in the building.

We'll pass by the Fashion Museum and learn a little about the history of this important building.

Stop At: Palacio das Artes, Avenida Afonso Pena 1537, Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais 30130-004 Brazil

We'll visit Palácio das Artes (the main artistic / cultural complex in the state).

Stop At: Parque Municipal Americo Renee Giannetti, Avenida Afonso Pena 1377 Centro, Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais 30130-002 Brazil

We'll take a walk in the park and also "Palácio da Artes" (the main theater and artistic center of the state).

Stop At: Santa Teresa Viaduct, Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais Brazil

From the park, we'll cross the "Viaduto Santa Tereza" (Santa Tereza Bridge) - one ot the main postcards of the city - from where we can see historical buildings, some urban arts (murals) and a beautiful view from the hills of "Serra do Curral".

Stop At: Rua Sapucaí, R. Sapucaí - Floresta, Belo Horizonte - MG, 30110-002, Brazil

After crossing the "Viaduto Santa Tereza" we'll get to the viewpoint of "Rua Sapucaí", where we'll find a beautiful panoramic view of downtown BH. Besides the buildings, we will appreciate a beautiful skyline formed by murals, which has made BH one of the main references in urban art in the world.

Stop At: Praca Rui Barbosa (Praca Da Estacao), Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais Brazil

Then we'll go to the "Praça da Estação" (Station Square), where the building of the old station of the Brazil Central Railroad - now Museum of Arts and Crafts - is located. We'll then go to the museum (if it's open).

Stop At: Praca Sete de Setembro, Intersection of Avenue Afonso Pena & Amazonas Centro, Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais Brazil

We'll walk to "Praça Sete", main point of reference of BH downtown area and ground zero of the city. There I'll tell you some curiosities about the urban life of BH and we will make a stop at the traditional "Café Nice" (if it is open), where we'll taste the tradicional coffee with cheese bread (the well-known "pão de quejio").

We'll stop at the famous Café Nice, to try the typical "pão de queijo" (cheese balls) and a cup of coffee.

Stop At: Igreja Sao Jose, Rua Tupis, 164 Próximo à Praça Sete - Centro, Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais 30190-060 Brazil

We'll take a quick tour on the São José Church, one of the oldest and most important churches in BH.

Duration: 5 minutes

Pass By: Edificio Acaiaca, Avenida Afonso Pena 867 Em frente Igreja Sao Jose, Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais 30130-002 Brazil

We'll pass in front of the largest building in BH and one of the most traditional in the city: the Acaiaca Building. We will tell you a little about the history of this important building.

On the final stretch of the tour, we'll pass by some point of interest, such as the Acaiaca building and the Church of São José, and the we will walk to the Central Market - the main popular market in town - where we'll take a tour through the main galleries.
