Specialties of Nagoya Food Tour

In a small group of up to 6 people, you will walk around Sakae with our knowledgeable guide.

While sampling different Nagoya specialties such as Hitsumabushi, Oni Manju, Ebi Senbei, and more you will learn about the dishes backgrounds, the restaurants, and places you visit. Insider information and background stories are what make this tour special!

Enjoy your private 3.5-hour foodie walking tour in Nagoya.

Meet me at Oasis 21, the landmark and central point of Sakae district. To start out the tour you will learn about the city of Nagoya and its history and important symbols such as Nagoya Castle and the Kinshachi and Atsuta Shrine. From the observation deck of Oasis 21 you get a great view of the city.

From there we walk to our first food stop. The original Miso Nikomi Udon restaurant, where you will learn about the local Aka Miso and try it for yourself.

After a quick try of the local pickles, we will explore the underground level of Japan's oldest department store filled to the brim with delicacies. You will try Tenmusu, mini riceballs with shrimp Tempura and learn the story of its origin, Oni Manju, where we will explore why they are called devil's rice cakes, and Ebi Sembei, shrimp rice crackers.

The highlight of the tour is Hitsumabushi, grilled eel on rice, a local delicacy for special occasions. The tour ends at the local Izakaya where we will have a drink together and try spicy Nagoya-style chicken wings.

Throughout the tour, I will point out points of interest in the area, talk about vending machines, pachinko, and nightlife in Nagoya. Sounds good- Then book now!
