The Lost City was built by the Tayrona indigenous culture around 700 A.D. and it was the most important urban center among the 250 indigenous settlements discovered in the area. Its population ranged between 1,400 and 3,000 inhabitants, and the city was made up of more than 250 terraces distributed in eight “neighborhoods” whose space was used to live, work and perform religious ceremonies. Engage in an amazing experience during 5 days in which you will be connected with nature and with local communities of Colombia, and will walk through a beautiful scenery to arrive to The Lost City. At the end of the tour, visit an inidgenous wiwa community and immerse in their culture. This is an active tour where you will be walking and hiking most of the time, and you must be in healthy conditions to do so. You will be Picked up and droped off at your accommodation with Private transportation, and will have a private bilingual guide for your group.

Itinerary

Day 1: Pick Up and Departure from Santa Marta

Stop At: Ciudad Perdida, El Mamey Sierra Nevada, Santa Marta, Santa Marta Municipality 470007 Colombia
You will be picked up in your accommodation with Private Transportation. You will head together to the entrance of the natural reserve where the lost city is located. You will then meet your private guide and start this fascinating adventure to find the Lost City. Today you will walk approximately 7.6 km and have the chance to stop for lunch, fruits and to take a bath in natural pools. You will get to the first sleeping camp in the late afternoon and rest to start the day early the next morning.

Day 2: Day 2 of Lost City Hike

Stop At: Ciudad Perdida, El Mamey Sierra Nevada, Santa Marta, Santa Marta Municipality 470007 Colombia
Today you will continue your hike, and will also have time to have lunch by the river 'Buritaca' and take a well-deserved and refreshing bath. At the end of the day, arrive to your new camp to enjoy dinner.

Day 3: The Lost City

Stop At: Ciudad Perdida, El Mamey Sierra Nevada, Santa Marta, Santa Marta Municipality 470007 Colombia
You will have breakfast very early, and after walking 2 km you will start the ascent towards Lost City by climbing 1,200 stone steps until you reach the majestic and longed for Lost City. Between interconnected roads, walls and terraces, you will find remainings of the Tayrona culture that existed years ago. You will have time to walk around and to absorb the amazing energy. Your guide will also tell you about the history of this lost city.

Day 4: Day 4 of Lost City Hike

Today you will start your return and your way back to the entrance of the park. Enjoy the natural surroundings and your last full day in this unique and sacred area.

Day 5: Visit a Wiwa Indigenous Community and Return to Santa Marta

Stop At: Ciudad Perdida, El Mamey Sierra Nevada, Santa Marta, Santa Marta Municipality 470007 Colombia
Today you will go to the Wiwa inidigenous community to understand how they live and learn more about their traditions and culture. You will have the chance to immerse in their culture and be welcomed into their community, and get to spend some time together. After this fascinating and unique experience, you will return to Santa Marta and you will be dropped off again at your accommodation.
