Kruja Half Day Tour with Guide
On this small group guided tour you will learn about Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg, who made Kruje a bastion of uncompromising resistance against the Ottoman in the fifteenth Century. The Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg Museum is situated inside the castle walls, which dates back to the fifth and sixth centuries A.D. The museum itself was inaugurated in 1981. Within the walls of the castle are also the Ethnographic Museum and the Dollma Tekke. Near the castle’s entrance is a traditional market, which dates back to the period of Skanderbeg. Here, you can find Albanian craft products such as embroidered items, carpeting, silver objects, copper, alabaster, filigree, traditional clothing, antiques at the traditional Old Baazar of Kruja. We meet in Tirana at the statue of Skanderbeg Square at 1.00 pm. We will then set off in air-conditioned vehicle to the historic city of Kruje. First, we spend time in the Bazaar with the opportunity to shop for local trinkets and witness traditional handmade crafts.

No to be missed is Museum Ethnographic, located in a traditional house built in the middle of the 18th century A.D (1764), by Ismail Pashe Toptani. The museum features cultural exhibits of Albania traditional life. We will spend time here Entrance fees included.

Next, we visit with Skanderbeg Museum. This museum, inside the castle complex, opened in 1982 and its spacious seven-level interior displays replicas of armor and paintings depicting Skanderbeg's struggle against the Ottomans. The museum is something of a secular shrine, and takes itself very seriously indeed, with giant statues and dramatic battle murals. Entrance fees are included.
