2-Day Chiang Dao and Mae Taeng Valley active tour, from Chiang Mai

From Chiang Mai, discover the authentic rural life of northern Thailand in two beautiful valleys located north of the city. First, you'll explore the Chiang Dao valley, offering stunning views of Thailand’s third-highest peak, caves and Buddhist sanctuary. Hike on a trail linking two hill-tribe villages and visit a local family. The second day you'll hike the Mae Taeng highlands on forestry trails offering scenic views of the valley below. Have lunch at a local house and get to taste locally grown tea or coffee. On both days, you'll hike in different regions, offering a better approach of the nature and culture. Itinerary

Day 1: Discover the Chiang Dao valley: hike, cave visit and cultural information

Stop At: Active Thailand Day Trips, 54/5 Moo 2, Soi 14 Tha Sala, Chiang Mai 50000 Thailand
Meeting at your hotel or our office. Drive one and half hour (80km) to reach the Chiang Dao valley.
Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Chiang Dao, Chiang Dao
Arrive to a village, our adventure starting point. Easy walk 1 1/2 hours in the valley to reach another village (Palong people, immigrants from Myanmar). Explanation about the culture, customs and ways of living of villagers, and where they come from. Meet with our vehicle and transfer to restaurant for lunch
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Chiang Dao Cave, Chiang Dao 50170 Thailand
Afternoon explore the Chiang Dao caves and Buddhist sanctuary. The cave system comprise of 3 chambers, and we will explore two of them with a local guide with kerosene lights. For people not comfortable in caves, we can only explore the main chamber through an easy pathway. Then we will hike up the mountain to an amazing view point Temple part of the Buddhist sanctuary.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Mae Taeng, Mae Taeng
Transfer by vehicle to the Mae Taeng valley and Le Cocotier Resort for overnight.
Duration: 45 minutes

• Dinner: Set Thai dinner at the hotel
Accommodation included: Overnight at Le Cocotier Resort (or similar)

Day 2: Highland trek 3+ hours. Lunch, then return back to Chiang Mai

Stop At: Mae Taeng, Mae Taeng
Drive to the trek departure point in the highlands above the Mae Taeng valley. We trek 3 hours through jungle path with stunning views of the valley below and Doi Luang Chiang Dao. We'll have a lunch experience at a local home in the village. Optional hike another hour to meet vehicle. Afternoon tea overlooking the jungle and transfer back to Chiang Mai city.

Drop off at your hotel in the city.
Duration: 5 minutes
