King Faisal Mosque
The King Faisal Mosque is one of the largest, beautiful and most iconic mosques in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Covering approximately 12,000 m², the majestic King Faisal Mosque will provide you with the opportunity of capturing interesting photographs and witnessing some mind-boggling architecture as well. The Mosque name was derived after the erstwhile ruler of Saudi Arabia named King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
Till 2007, it was deemed to be the biggest mosque in this area. However, it took second place when the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque was opened to the public in 2007. There is no doubt that the aforesaid King Faisal Mosque happens to be one of the most contemporary-styled mosques in the UAE.

At the turn of the century, the village comprised some 500 houses and was occupied by the Zaab tribe. Sheikh Rajib bin Ahmed Al Zaabi, the ruler of Jazeera Al Hamra in 1820, was one of four independent signatories to the original 1820 treaty between the Trucial States and the British following the battle at Dhayah Fort in 1819.
Al Jazeera Al Hamra was once a tidal island split into two sections, the smaller northern quarter of Umm Awaimir and the southern quarter of Manakh. The Zaab tribe maintained a fleet of 25 pearling boats and tended some 500 sheep and 150 cattle until the crash of the pearl fishing industry in the 1920s.

Historical houses built of silt and stones, dating back more than a hundred years, are in the process of being converted into luxurious modern accommodation for guests to experience a glimpse into the traditional life of the region. Within a short walk, you can reach the top of the mountain where the upper fort, used to defend the village some three centuries ago, was located.

Heading toward Khorfakkan on the new Sharjah – Khorfakkan highway opens up a vista of the beautiful Al Rafisah Dam. Travel time from Sharjah to Khorfakkan has been reduced to 45 minutes, due to the new road, allowing more visitors to enjoy the serene pleasures of the area where a large, clear lake with boating facilities is overlooked by the magnificent Hajar mountains. The scenery is unmatched with the sandstone mountain range looming over a pure azure reservoir with its accompanying tranquil green landscape and man-made waterfall, perfect for nature lovers and outdoors enthusiasts.

Stop At: Khor Fakkan Amphitheatre, Rugaylat Rd, Sharjah United Arab Emirates
Soak up local culture at the impressive Khorfakkan Amphitheatre. Inspired by Roman architecture, it has rapidly become a celebrated local landmark. The newly-built amphitheater covers over 1700m2 and can accommodate over 3500 spectators. It was designed with a state-of-the-art cooling system, making it the ideal out-door venue for upcoming events. Hungry visitors can also sample delicious dishes at the amphitheater’s restaurant and café.
A magnificent 45m-high waterfall cascades down next to the amphitheater. Although the waterfall is man-made, it was carved out of natural rock and is often illuminated at night. The structure was built with viewing windows at the top, which are sometimes open to the public. From there, visitors can watch water flow down the rock. Both the amphitheater and waterfall face Khorfakkan’s shimmering bay, so visitors can enjoy a wander along the beach before enjoying a spectacular show.
