Land of Legends was created to bring new knowledge to the past through experimental archeology. Here, research meets the public, and guests will find professional and well-trained staff with knowledge of history, archeology, and craft subjects like pottery and textiles. The park is situated on 43 hectares in the beautiful Danish countryside with hills, forests, lakes, and meadows.
Make sure to stop by Denmark’s largest Viking King’s Hall, which is based on the archeological finds from the town of Gammel Lejre, 3 km from the Hall’s present location. Other areas of Land of Legends include a Stone Age settlement, an Iron Age village, and a Small Holding farm from the 1800s. There are activities for young and old throughout the site. Meet Vikings, chat with the Iron Age blacksmith, discuss weaving and dyeing in the textile workshop. Stop for coffee or lunch in the 18 th century thatched roof cottage, Hvidesøhus.
