Itinerary

Day 1: Day 1

Pass By: Athens, Athens, Attica
On day one, make your way to the Central Railway Station of Athens (also known as Stathmos Larisis) and catch the 07:58 train to Kalambaka using the train e-tickets that you will receive via email. Embark on a scenic train ride through the Greek countryside and admire the beautiful landscapes.

At approximately 10:45, the train will make a stop at Paleofarsalos, where you should exit and catch the connecting bus that will continue the trip to Kalambaka.

Pass By: Meteora, Meteora, Trikala Region, Thessaly
Around 12:45 arrive at Kalambaka train station, where our guide will be waiting for you, holding a signboard with your name. You will get aboard our mini-bus and we will transfer you to your hotel for some relaxation before your afternoon tour. In the afternoon you will be picked up from your hotel for a Meteora sunset tour. During this tour you will have the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic views, admire the remarkable architecture and natural beauty of this unique landscape and witness one of the most breathtaking sunsets you will ever see. Then you have free time to explore the city of Kalambaka.

Stop At: Saint Nicholas Monastery, Kalambaka Greece
The Monastery of Saint Nicholas of Anapafsas is literally suspended in air on a small rock and is the first monastery that we meet on our way from Kastraki village to the stone forest of Holy Meteora.
Duration: 1 hour

Pass By: Holy Trinity Monastery (Agia Triada), Kalambaka Greece
The Monastery of the Holy Trinity is the third oldest monastery in Meteora and is the most difficult to reach, since the visitor has to cross a downhill path and then ascend 145 steps carved into the rock.

Stop At: St. Stephen’s Monastery, Kalabaka 422 00, Greece
The Monastery of Saint Stephen’s is located just above the city of Kalampaka and is the most accessible monastery in Meteora, as there are no steps to reach the entrance and the access is easy through a small stone bridge.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Byzantine Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, Kalambaka Greece
The Byzantine church of of the Assumption of Virgin Mary is situated in the old district of Kalampaka and is the oldest preserved monument in the whole region of Meteora.
Duration: 1 hour

Day 2: Day 2

Stop At: Kalambaka, Kalambaka, Trikala Region, Thessaly
Next morning, you will be able to participate in a 4h tour of your choice. You can either participate in our 4h “Meteora: Morning Half Day Sightseeing and Monasteries Tour” to further explire the monasteries or our 4h “Hidden Trails of Meteora - Hiking” to discover the hidden walking trails of Meteora.

In the afternoon you will have free time to explore the area on your own.

Stop At: Roussanou Monastery, Kalambaka Greece
The Roussanou Monastery, also known as Arsani, stands on top of an impressive vertical and steep cliff of Meteora, between the Monasteries of Saint Nicholas Anapafsas and Varlaam.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Varlaam Monastery, Kalambaka Greece
The Varlaam Monastery or Monastery of All the Saints is located on an imposing rock exactly opposite of the Great Meteoron and it is the second largest monastery.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Great Meteoron Monastery, Eparhiacos dromos Meteoron, Kalambaka 42200 Greece
The Monastery of Great Meteoron or Transfiguration of Christ, expresses the greatness and history of the Holy Meteora, as it is the oldest and most important monastery.
Duration: 1 hour

Day 3: Day 3

Stop At: Natural History Museum of Meteora & Mushroom Museum, Pindou 46, Kalambaka 422 00 Greece
Make the last day count in Meteora and take a morning walk on your own to the nearby Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushrooms Museum. Explore a rich collection of birds and mammals as well as an integrated, one-of-a-kind, Mushroom collection.
Duration: 1 hour

Pass By: Kalambaka, Kalambaka, Trikala Region, Thessaly
Lastly, visit a local cafe or restaurant in Kalabaka before heading back to Athens with the 17:20 train departure.
