One of the most important places in Mantua. The Castle of San Giorgio was built in 1395 by the Gonzaga family - as soon as they took possession of the city - with the aim of both defensive and show their economic and political power.

An ancient place for the sale of fruit and vegetables (the “herbs”, in fact) and for commercial activities, Piazza delle Erbe in Mantua has always been one of the oldest and most popular squares. Nowadays it host the most important and historical places such as the Clock Tower.

the Basilica of Sant'Andrea is the largest church in Mantua. Made by the famous architect Leon Battista Alberti, it is the symbol of Renaissance architecturein the city. It was completed many years after the architect's death, in ways that did not always conform to the original projects. It has the dignity of a minor basilica.
