Itinerary

Day 1: Edinburgh to Inverness

Stop At: The Kelpies, Visitor Centre, The Helix, Grangemouth, Falkirk FK2 7ZT, UK
We travel north stopping to visit the Kelpies, a stunning spectacle of modern engineering designed by Scottish artist Andy Scott. Kelpies are mythological beasts in Scottish folklore, and this fantastic equine landmark is the largest of its kind in the world, “neighing” at a height of 30 meters and weighing a mighty 300 tonnes.

Pass By: Stirling Castle, Castle Esplanade Upper Castle Hill, Old Town, Stirling FK8 1EJ Scotland
We pass Stirling, the ancient capital of Scotland and its mighty castle.

Stop At: Tyndrum, Tyndrum, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, Scotland
As we enter the highlands, we stop for lunch in a picturesque village.

Stop At: Glencoe, Glencoe, Scottish Highlands, Scotland
Glencoe is dominated by majestic mountains which completely contrast the vast and flat expanse of its neighbouring Rannoch Moor. Buachaille Etive Mòr, which overlooks the moor, is a bonnie brute of a mountain, and a fond favourite with photographers. Your guide will take you through Glencoe’s sad history; you will truly feel like you have been transported through time.

Stop At: Loch Ness, Scotland
We stop in Fort Augustus to visit the legendary Loch Ness for a photo break before we finish our day in Inverness.

Day 2: Inverness to Stornoway

Stop At: Corrieshalloch Gorge National Nature Reserve, Braemore, Ullapool IV23 2PJ Scotland
Today we head for the Hebrides! Our first stop of the day is at Corrieshalloch Gorge, one of the most impressive gorges in the UK. The gorge was formed from melted glacial water and stands approximately 1.5 km long, 60m deep, and 10m wide.

Stop At: Ullapool, Ullapool, Scottish Highlands, Scotland
We drive to Ullapool to catch our ferry and depart the mainland.

Stop At: Stornoway, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, Lewis and Harris, Outer Hebrides, The Hebrides, Scotland
Take to the water on the ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis – keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way!
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Stop At: Isle of Harris, Isle of Harris, Lewis and Harris, Outer Hebrides, The Hebrides, Scotland
Enjoy a leisurely drive from Stornoway to Harris, the southernmost and most mountainous part of the Lewis and Harris islands.

Stop At: Isle of Harris Distillery, Harbour Street Nr Ferry Entrance, Tarbert HS3 3DG Scotland
We stop at the Isle of Harris distillery to unwind with a wee dram.
Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: St Clement's Church, Scotland
Marvel at the impressive St. Clement's Church, the 16th century church built for the Chiefs of the Clan MacLeod.

Stop At: Golden Road, Scotland
Spend the rest of the day exploring the idyllic Isle of Harris and the sprawling Golden Road.

Day 3: Stornoway to Stornoway

Stop At: Callanish Standing Stones, HS2 9DY Scotland
Visit one of the inspirations behind Outlander - the Callanish standing stones. These stones stand proudly at 10 feet tall and were used in bronze age ritual activity. Please note that from September 1st 2024, there will be no access to the stones due to conservation work.

Stop At: Carloway Broch, Near Carloway Scotland
Then fast-forward to the Iron Age at the broch of Dun Carloway. A broch is a structure found only in Scotland. At 9m tall, Dun Carloway Broch still stands close to its impressive full height.

Stop At: Gearannan Blackhouse Village, 5a Gearrannan, Garenin HS2 9AL Scotland
Experience island life at the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village. These houses were lived in until as recently as the 1970s and represent 17th century island life on Scotland’s rugged Atlantic Coast.

Stop At: Butt of Lewis Lighthouse, Scotland
We explore the remote coastline and visit the Butt of Lewis – the most northerly point on the island – to see the isolated lighthouse and dramatic force of the sea against the cliffs.

Day 4: Stornoway to Portree

Stop At: Lewis and Harris, Lewis and Harris, Outer Hebrides, The Hebrides, Scotland
We visit one of Scotland’s beautiful beaches. With the clearest water and the whitest sand, you will feel as if you are on a tropical island.

Stop At: Tarbert, Tarbert, Kintyre Peninsula, Argyll and Bute, Scotland
We travel "over the sea to Skye"!
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Isle of Skye Brewery, The Pier, Uig IV51 9XP Scotland
Visit the Isle of Skye Brewery to sample some of the island's signature beers.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Isle of Skye, Isle of Skye, The Hebrides, Scotland
Spend the afternoon exploring the Trotternish peninsula. Soak up the enchanting scenery and learn about Skye’s myths and legends.

We spend the day exploring Skye, visiting iconic locations such as Kilt Rock, the Old Man of Storr and the Quiraing.

Next we stop at the most photographed castle in Scotland, Eilean Donan. Eilean Donan Castle has links to both clans MacKenzie and MacRae. No entry - photo stop only

Day 6: Portree to Edinburgh

Stop At: Armadale Castle, Gardens & Museum of the Isles, Armadale House Armadale Sleat Isle of Skye, Armadale IV45 8RS Scotland
Start the day by exploring Armadale Castle, once home to Clan MacDonald. £5 admission
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

We board the ferry from Armadale to Mallaig, where our adventures continue.
Duration: 25 minutes

Explore Mallaig, a charming fishing village. Treat yourself to some fish and chips before our next exciting adventure – the Jacobite Steam Train journey.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Glenfinnan Viaduct, Glenfinnan Lodge A830 Rd, Glenfinnan PH37 4LT Scotland
Choose to take part in the Jacobite Steam Train and Glenfinnan Viaduct have shot to worldwide fame since starring in the Harry Potter films. The West Highland Line between Mallaig and Fort William is famous for its wildly beautiful scenery and dreamy sands of the west coast. Along the coast, you can see the silhouette of the Small Isles, and the bonnie beaches at Arisaig and Morar. You’ll quickly understand why it’s been voted the most scenic rail journey in the world.

Stop At: Pitlochry, Pitlochry, Perth and Kinross, Scotland
We make a final comfort stop in the southern Highland village of Pitlochry before concluding our tour in Edinburgh at approx. 5:30pm.
